Tyre markings explained

The tyre markings are the details written on the tyre’s sidewall.
On the tyre, there are various pieces of information such as the width, structure, performance symbol, load rating.

Using the example of a tyre marked : 205/50 R 15 91V E4:

205 = Tyre width of 205mm
50 = 50% of the width of the tyre
R = Radial construction
15 = internal diameter of tyre is 15 inches
91 = Load rating is 91 which corresponds to 600 kilograms
V = Speed symbol speed of 240 km/h (149mph)
E4 = European Regulatory Authority approval mark.
